Pre-Primal: 5 days and counting…

I’m on my lunch break. I didn’t have time to make myself much for lunch this morning, so I cut up a carrot and a half of green pepper, grabbed the four leftover cherries that were sitting on the counter and made sure my usual stash of clementines were still in my purse before running out the door. I don’t work a full day, so I assumed that my meager fruits and vegetables would be enough of a snack to get me through the short work hours.

It did okay, until I started looking up Primal-accepted recipes. Before we launch into this new meal plan on Sunday, I want to arm myself with as many recipes as I can so I have something to defend myself against the onslaught of grain and dairy cravings that I expect will hit within the first 48 hours. And even beyond the physical cravings, I REALLY love to cook and bake. I like to feed people tasty, relaxing meals and I believe that taste, as possibly the most tantalizing of the empirical senses, was meant to be enjoyed to the fullest. I refuse to give up my love for delicious food or my enjoyment of cooking just because I won’t be baking bread and brownies anymore, hence the lunch-time recipe hunt.

I really wasn’t prepared for what I found. These recipes look AMAZING! Like, seriously amazing. Like, non-Paleo amazing. Stuffed zucchini, red curry, smokey roast (confession: I actually think pot roast is gross, but I’m sure John Mark would love it!), avocado salsa, Spanish fritattas, chili colorado…

 YUM!

My meager meal did nothing to quench my hunger after all of that. I am so relieved that I won’t have to feel deprived of deliciousness or have feed my husband bland, boring schlock everyday to keep up with this new meal plan.

Only five more days to clean out those cabinets…

  1. I’m so glad you are being positive about this! Any time you get to feeling depressed that you can’t eat a certain food, the best person to call is Drew – he will be your biggest supporter and is a wealth of information 🙂
